THE ANSWERS
Just ask a question or enter in keywords on the form on the left to find answers to your questions.

1. What is Postlets?
Postlets is a real estate classified listing creation and distribution platform owned and operated by Zillow. Agents, property managers, and landlords, as well as sellers/FSBOers, can create a property listing just once, and we'll help you distribute it to many of the leading classifieds sites, search, and social media sites. We'll also host a dedicated landing page on our site and give you additional tools such as widgets and a personal Gallery to help you gain even more exposure.

2. How much does it cost?
Postlets is free. You can create as many listings as you like and use all of the distribution tools.

Postlets gives you a single-property website. Among other things, each listing has a multi-page layout, includes up to 25 huge photos (700 X 525 pixels), embeds a slideshow viewer, and shows no advertising. There's also an unbranded MLS- compliant version that can be used as a virtual tour.

For more info about Postlets features, please visit the Postlets info page.

3. Is Postlets affiliated with craigslist or any of the other listed sites?
Postlets is only affiliated with Zillow, who acquired Postlets in April 2011. Other than that, Postlets is not affiliated with any other classifieds aggregators where our listings appear. This also means we do not have any visibility or interface into their respective systems.

4. How do I sign up?
Go to the signup page, provide your email address and choose a username and password. You must also confirm that you have read and accept the terms of use. After that, you should be all set to start your first Postlet.

5. I forgot my username and/or password. What can I do?
If you forgot either your username or password, go to the login assistance page. After providing the email address you signed up with, you'll be emailed your username along with a temporary password for accessing your account. After you log in, you can then change your password by clicking on the My Account link at the top of page and editing your contact info.

If you don't receive an email from us within a couple of minutes, please check your "bulk" or "spam" email folders. Sometimes email filters incorrectly tag our valid emails as spam. If you cannot find your password email in those folders, it's possible your mail server blocked it before it was even delivered to your personal email inbox. In that case, please contact us.

6. What is Gallery?
Gallery is a custom-branded webpage to showcase all of your listings. You'll be able to customize it with a company logo, a personalized URL and an About Me page where you can describe your services and upload a personal photo. It also includes a map that displays the location of your mappable listings.

7. How do I create a Gallery?
Simply create two or more postlets in any category and you'll be prompted with the option to create a Gallery on your My Postlets page. Simply click the "Create My Gallery" button at the bottom of the page.

When creating your Gallery, the Gallery URL is anything you want it to be to make your personalized URL. For example, you could choose "agentjane" and your Gallery URL would be agentjane.postlets.com. Note that once you create your Gallery you cannot change the Gallery URL.

8. How do I create a postlet?
To get started, first log in from the login page using the username and password you chose during the signup process (if you forgot either of these, go to the login assistance page). Then click on the "Create a New Postlet" button or the "Create" tab at the top of the page. You'll be taken to the first of six pages where you can start building your postlet.

9. Why do I have to verify my phone number?
As of March 6th, 2012, we now require users for all new postlets and activating draft postlets and renewing expired postlets to verify the phone number associated with the postlet. We added this verification process to help reduce scam listings created on the site.

We do understand this is a hassle for our legitimate users, but hope everybody can also understand the need for additional measures against fraud.

10. What phone number am I verifying and do I need to do this for every postlet?
The phone number you are required to verify is the number currently entered and displayed on the postlet you are creating or trying to activate. Please note that this number may be different than the one on your My Account page and updating that phone number will not update your postlet phone number.

Any new phone numbers entered on your postlet(s) will also need to be verified. However, once you've verified a phone number you won't need to verify it again for any other postlets you enter it on.

The phone number you are verifying cannot use an extension or be a managed/auto-responder/phone-bank number. You will need to be able to answer the call or read the text message to use the verification code we send to verify your number.

11. What's the difference between 'draft' and 'active' modes?
A draft postlet is a postlet that is still a work in progress, while an active postlet is one that is live. You can save your postlet in draft mode if it's incomplete or if you want to stage it, such as if you are planning on adding photos later. Once it's ready to go live, simply activate it from your My Postlets page. Just select the Activate action from the Manage menu.

12. How do I activate my postlet from draft?
You can activate your postlet from your My Postlets page by selecting the Activate action from the Manage menu. All of your postlets (except for those you have deleted) will remain manageable from your My Postlets page.

13. What do I do with the HTML code?
You can use the HTML code on any site that accepts and processes HTML such as craigslist. You will need to first create a post on each respective site and then copy the HTML code we provide and paste it directly into the ad description.

Please see the HTML instructions page for step-by-step instructions on manually copying/pasting into craigslist. You can always retrieve the HTML without needing to recreate your postlet by selecting the Links action from the Manage menu on your My Postlets page.

14. What is Postlets MINI?
Postlets MINI is a "widget" of your listing. You can embed the code in your blog (e.g. Blogger, Wordpress) or on your own website to display a miniature version of your listing. There are three different sizes and each links back to the full-sized listing. MINIS are available for real estate for sale and for rent postlets.

You can find the code to copy and paste into your blog or website on the bottom, along with the HTML for your postlet, by selecting the Links action from the Manage menu on your My Postlets page.

15. How do I upload my photos?
After you've entered all your listing information, you'll have an opportunity to upload photos (step 4). Just browse for the files on your computer and click the upload button once you're finished.

16. Do the photos need to be a certain format and size?
Yes, we only accept files saved in the jpg format and which are smaller than 2MB (2,000KB). To find out if your photos meet the criteria, right-click (ctrl-click on Macs) on the file and select Properties. Additionally, they may not be larger than the general dimensions of 3000 x 1500 pixels.

17. Where can I automatically syndicate my postlet?
You have the option of automatically submitting your listings to any/all of the sites below depending on the listing category and location. For each new postlet, you can specify which sites you want to receive your listing, or you can change the default syndication settings for all future postlets through your My Account preferences.

18. I can't find my listing on a particular site. What can I do to find it?
Since we don't have visibility into third party systems, we cannot confirm that every listing was indexed. It can sometimes be tricky to isolate your listings, but the best way is to to search for unique identifiers (part of the listing subtitle, name, address, etc.), and don't forget to filter on attributes such as number of bedrooms or bathrooms, on the respective third party sites.

Note: Syndication is not immediate. We send new listing info the following morning and it usually takes 24-48 hours to appear on the other sites. If you have incomplete or inaccurate information (e.g. you don't include the full address), your listing may not be processed by our syndication partners. If your listings are also syndicated from another source, that may also interfere with syndication from postlets.com.

19. Will my postlet be automatically submitted to craigslist?
No. Craigslist prohibits "posting agents" to post on behalf of others. You will need to manually create a craigslist post and copy and paste the provided HTML code into the description box.

20. How do I create a craigslist post?
Once you've created your postlet and get to the last step (the Display and Distribution page), you will see a link labeled Post on craigslist. Clicking this link will send you directly to craigslist. You will need to enter some basic information first and then manually copy and paste the provided HTML into the posting description box to get your postlet onto craigslist. You will still need to go through the standard process.

Craigslist will send you an email to activate and manage your post, as usual. Hold onto this so that you can later edit/delete your post.

If your postlet is incomplete or you choose to post to craigslist later, you can always get back to the HTML page from your My Postlets page by simply selecting the Links action from the Manage menu.

Note: If you experience problems with the link, check to see if you have a pop-up blocker enabled. If so, turn it off (usually in your Google or Yahoo toolbar). If this doesn't work, you can initiate a post by going directly to the craigslist site. Please see the craigslist instructions page for step-by-step instructions.

21. Why does my postlet appear different on craigslist?
Due to the restrictions on the code and content permitted on craigslist, the HTML version will display a bit differently than what you see on postlets.com. Specifically, all full-sized photos will be displayed at the bottom (instead of thumbnails at the top).

Also, the "additional links" section has been removed. The links will not appear on your craigslist ad as external links are actually against craigslist's terms of use. Most people are not aware of this rule, but as we are a larger entity, we must follow craigslist's terms of use more closely.

22. What do I need to know about craigslist's terms of use?
If you use Postlets to post on craigslist, you must read and abide by the craigslist terms of use. Please familiarize yourself with what is and what is not acceptable (pay close attention to section 7 on Conduct). Postlets strives to abide by both the letter and spirit of the craigslist terms of use and to be a good community citizen, and we hope our users will do the same.

23. How do I edit my postlet?
You can edit any of your postlets by selecting the Edit action from the Manage menu on your My Postlets page for the postlet you want to edit. Photos may be added or edited in this manner as well.

24. How do I expire/delete/renew my postlet?
You can inactivate your postlet by selecting the Expire action from the Manage menu on your My Postlets page. Expired postlets will be archived on your My Postlets page and can be edited and/or renewed at any time.

To permanently delete your postlet, select the Delete action from the Manage menu.

To renew your postlet for an additional 30 days, select the Renew action from the Manage menu. You can renew your listing is often as you like.

Note: You will need to renew/repost your post on craigslist separately by selecting the Link action on your My Postlets page and repeating the post to craigslist procedure.

25. When will my postlet expire?
Postlets will remain active on the Postlets site for 60 days for sale postlets and 30 days for rentals postlets from the date it was created. Note that expiration on the Postlets site is independent of expiration of any listings you create on craigslist. A renewed postlet will be renewed for another 30 days. Draft postlets that are activated will also stay active for 30 days.

26. What happened to my PRO credits?
As of July 12th, 2011, Postlets PRO offering became available for free to all users. If you have unused PRO credits they can be used towards one of Zillow's paid offerings that provide featured listings, advertising placements plus many other great features on Zillow.
