What is Postlets?
Postlets is a real estate classified listing creation and syndication platform. What that means is that you create a property listing just once, and we'll help you distribute it to many of the leading classifieds sites and search engines. We'll also host a dedicated landing page on our site and give you additional tools such as widgets and personal galleries to help you gain even more exposure.

How much does it cost?
Nothing for the HTML or the syndication or the ability to create as many postlets as you want. We just launched our premium listing product, Postlets Plus. Just five dollars for a single PLUS upgrade. Need more? Get a 10-pack for thirty bucks or a 25-pack for fifty. But our standard listing will always remain free.

Do I retain ownership of things I put on Postlets?
Absolutely. You (or the actual copyright holder) retain complete ownership of what you post on Postlets. We will syndicate your listing to our distribution partners only with your permission.

Is Postlets affiliated with craigslist or other classifieds sites?
No. Postlets is in no way affiliated with craigslist or the other classifieds aggregators where our listings appear.

Who are you guys?
We're a small web development company based in the Silicon Valley. If you like our product or would like more information, please send us feedback.

How do I sign up?
Go to the signup page, provide your email address and choose a username and password. We'll send you a confirmation email with a link you'll need to follow in order to activate your account. To help ensure you get the email you can add registration@postlets.com to your address book.

How will you use my information?
We use your information simply to provide our service. Period. Please read our privacy policy to learn how we protect your personal information.

How do I activate my account?
After you sign up, you'll receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. Click on the link in the email (or copy and paste it into your browser address bar) to activate your account and get started.

I never received a confirmation email. What can I do?
If you don't receive a confirmation email from us within a couple of minutes, please check your "bulk" or "spam" email folders. Sometimes email filters incorrectly tag valid emails as spam. Otherwise, please contact us.

I forgot my username and/or password. What can I do?
If you forgot either your username or password, go to the login assistance page. After providing the email address you signed up with, you'll be emailed your username along with a temporary password for accessing your account. You can change your password by clicking on the My Account link at the top of page and editing your contact info.

How do I edit my contact information and preferences?
You can edit contact information and preferences by clicking on the My Account link at the top of page. Click the edit link next to the section you want to edit and make the necessary changes. Note that you cannot change your username or account email address. If you need to change your account email address, please contact us.

Can I add my personal photo and company logo?
You can add a photo and logo from your My Account page. Your photo will appear on all of your listings next to your contact info and on your Gallery. Your company logo will only appear on your Gallery, but not on the individual postlets.

What is Gallery?
Gallery is a custom-branded webpage to showcase all of your listings. You'll be able to customize it with a company logo, a personalized URL and an About Me page where you can describe your services and upload a personal photo.

How do I create a Gallery?
Simply create three or more postlets in any category and you'll be prompted with the option to create a Gallery on your My Postlets page. The Gallery URL is anything you want it to be to make your personalized URL. For example, you could choose realtor and your Gallery URL would be realtor.postlets.com.

How do I create a postlet?
To get started, first log in from the login page using the username and password you chose during the signup process (if you forgot either of these, go to the login assistance page). Then click on the create a new postlet button or the create tab at the top of the page. You'll be taken to the first of six pages where you can start building your postlet.

What information am I allowed to post?
You may post vehicle or property-specific information only. Listings that promote services, businesses or other websites will be removed.

The metro area dropdown doesn't work. What can I do?
Some of Postlets' functionality requires Javascript, and the metro area dropdown is one of the features that does. A list of valid metro areas will be available after a state has been selected from the state dropdown. The metro area you select should match the metro area where you would post your craigslist post. To enable Javascript, you can follow these instructions.

I used my browser's back button and now I get an error. What can I do?
Not all of the pages on the site will allow you to use the back button and change your postlet information. Depending on when you encounter the error, your postlet may be saved as a draft on your My Postlets page. Note that at the end of the postlet creation process there is a summary page from where you can go back and edit your info without any issues.

There was a hiccup with the database. What happened?
This is usually caused by entering special characters into a text entry field, such as when pasting from a Word document. Please enter only standard keyboard characters.

What's the difference between "draft" and "active" modes?
You can save your postlet in draft mode if it's incomplete or if you want to stage it. Once it's ready to go live, simply activate it from your My Postlets page. Make sure you check the box next to the listing, select the desired action and click the Go button.

How do I activate my postlet from draft?
You can activate your postlet by 1) checking the box next to the postlet on your My Postlets page, 2) selecting Activate from the dropdown menu and 3) clicking the Go button.

What do I do with the HTML code?
You can use the HTML code on any site that accepts and processes HTML such as craigslist and LiveDeal. You will need to first create a post on each respective site (see below for craigslist) and then copy the HTML code and paste it directly into the ad description. Please see the HTML instructions page for step-by-step instructions on manually copying/pasting into craigslist. You can always retrieve the HTML without needing to recreate your Postlets by clicking the html link next to your postlet on your My Postlets page.

What is Postlets PLUS?

Postlets PLUS is our premium listing product that gives you a single-property website. Among other things, it uses a multi-page layout, includes larger (4x the standard size) and more (18, or 3x the standard number) photos, and removes all advertising. What is Postlets MINI?
Postlets MINI is a "widget" of your listing. You can embed the code in your blog (e.g. Blogger, Wordpress) or on your own website to display a miniature version of your listing. There are three different sizes and each links back to the full-sized listing. Note that MINIS are currently only available for real estate for sale postlets.

How do I upload my photos?
After you've entered all your listing information, you'll have an opportunity to upload photos (step 4). Just browse for the files on your PC and click the upload button once you're finished.

Note: If you have a slow internet connection, you may want to upload 1 or 2 photos at a time to avoid a timeout error. You can always add more photos later.

How many photos can I upload?
You can upload up to 6 photos with the standard (free) listing and 18 with the PLUS upgrade. For PLUS, we split them into two separate batches to reduce upload times. After you upload the first 6, you'll have an opportunity in a subsequent step to upload up to 12 more.

Do the photos need to be a certain format and size?
We only accept files saved in the jpg format and which are smaller than 2MB (2,000KB). To find out if your photos meet the criteria, right-click (ctrl-click on Macs) on the file and select Properties.

If you need to resize your photo, we highly recommend using Picnik or FotoFlexer.

Note: If you plan to upgrade your listing to Plus, you'll want to upload photos with a high enough resolution that they stay sharp and clear at 700 by 525 pixels.

Why won't my photos load?
Most often it's because your photos are too big or aren't saved as jpg (please read above). There's also a 35 character limit for file names, so you may need to rename your files to something shorter.

If your session "times out" during photo upload (i.e. you're sent back to the beginning), you may need to reduce the number of photos you attempt to simultaneously load. You can still retrieve and edit your postlet from the Draft section on your My Postlets page.

Where will my listing information be automatically submitted?
Your listing information will be automatically submitted to any/all of the following sites depending on the listing category and location:

Do I have control over where you send my listing information?
Yes. You have full control over which sites to syndicate your listing information. Simply check or uncheck the sites you want us to syndicate your listing to at the end of the postlet creation process.

How long does it take for my listing information to appear on the other sites?
Our syndication partners will generally index your listing within 24 hours. Note that Trulia may take up to 72 hours.

Note: If you have incomplete or inaccurate information (e.g. you don't include the property address), your listing may not be processed by our syndication partners.

I can't find my listing on a particular site. What can I do to find it?
Since we don't have visibility into third party systems, we cannot confirm that every listing was indexed. It can sometimes be tricky to isolate your listings, but the best way is to to search for unique identifiers (part of the listing subtitle, name, address, etc.), and don't forget to filter on attributes such as number of bedrooms or bathrooms, on the respective third party sites.

Note: If you have incomplete or inaccurate information (e.g. you don't include the property address), your listing may not be processed by our syndication partners. If your listings are also syndicated from another source, that may also interfere with syndication from postlets.com.

If I modify my postlet, will the changes be automatically reflected on the sites?
Yes. As we continually provide our data, your updated postlet will be refreshed on the sites, although the change will not be immediate. Changes, as with initial syndication, will generally be seen within 24 hours.

Will my postlet be automatically submitted to craigslist or LiveDeal?
No. Craigslist prohibits "posting agents" to post on behalf of others. You will need to manually create a craigslist post and copy/paste the provided HTML code into the description box (please see below). The same for LiveDeal.

How do I create a craigslist post?
Once you've created your postlet and get to the last step (Display and Distribution), you will see a link labeled post on craigslist. Clicking this link will send you directly to craigslist. You will need to enter some basic information first and then copy and paste the postlet HTML into the posting description box to get your postlet onto craigslist.

Craigslist will send you an email to activate and manage your post. Hold onto this so that you can later edit/delete your post.

If your postlet is incomplete or you choose to post to craigslist later, you can always get back to the HTML page from your My Postlets page.

Note: If you experience problems with the link, check to see if you have a pop-up blocker enabled. If so, turn it off (usually in your Google or Yahoo toolbar). If this doesn't work, you can still initiate a post by going to the craigslist site. Please see the craigslist instructions page for step-by-step instructions.

If I modify or renew my postlet, will the changes be automatically reflected on craigslist?
No. You have to retrieve the modified HTML code (go to My Postlets and click on HTML) and re-enter it into your existing craigslist post. You will need to find the activation email from craigslist to modify your post.

Why does my postlet appear different on craigslist?
Due to the restrictions on the code and content permitted on craigslist, the HTML version will display a bit differently. Specifically, all full-sized photos will be displayed at the bottom (instead of thumbnails at the top). Also, the "additional links" section has been removed.

What do I need to know about craigslist's terms of use?
If you use Postlets to post on craigslist, you must read and abide by the craigslist terms of use. Please familiarize yourself with what is and what is not acceptable (pay close attention to section 7 on Conduct). Postlets strives to abide by both the letter and spirit of the craigslist TOU and to be a good community citizen, and we hope our users will do the same.

How do I edit my postlet?
You can edit any of your postlets by clicking the Edit button next to the postlet on your My Postlets page.

How do I expire/remove/renew my postlet?
You can inactivate your postlet by 1) checking the box next to the postlet on your My Postlets page, 2) selecting Expire from the dropdown menu and 3) clicking the Go button. Expired postlets will be archived on your My Postlets page and can be edited and/or renewed at any time.

To permanently delete your postlet, follow the same steps above, but select Remove from the dropdown menu.

To renew your postlet for an additional 30 days, follow the same steps above, but select Renew from the dropdown menu. You can renew your listing is often as you like.

Note: You will need to renew/repost your post on craigslist separately by clicking the POST button on your My Postlets page and repeating the post to craigslist procedure.

When will my postlet expire?
A postlet will remain active on the Postlets site for 60 days from the date it was created. Note that expiration on the Postlets site is independent of expiration of any listings you create on craigslist, backpage.com or LiveDeal. A renewed postlet will be renewed for another 30 days. Draft postlets that are activated will also activate for 30 days.

How do I upgrade my postlet to PLUS?
You can upgrade your postlet from the Display and Distribution page (click the POST button on your My Postlets page to get there). Clicking the UPGRADE button under Display Options will present you with a preview before you confirm your selection. Your account will automatically be debited once you click the UPGRADE NOW link.

How much does it cost?
A single PLUS upgrade credit costs $5. You can also purchase a 10-pack for $30 or a 25-pack for $50. You will be able to purchase credits via a secure PayPal page, which accepts both credit card and PayPal payments.

Why didn't my account get credited with Plus credits?
If you made your purchase by eCheck, there will generally be a 4 day wait for your funds to clear. After that period, your account will automatically be credited with your Plus credits.

Why does my postlet appear different on craigslist?
Due to the restrictions on the code and content permitted on craigslist, the HTML version will display a bit differently. Most notably, the tabbed-format is replaced by the single-page format. Photos will also be displayed at the bottom, and the "additional links" section has been removed.

Can I downgrade once I've upgraded my postlet?
Sorry, but you cannot downgrade a postlet once you've previewed and confirmed the PLUS upgrade.
