Avoid becoming a victim of a would-be scam or fraud. Be suspicious of transactions that involve any of the following:
- a distant buyer or seller in a different state or country
- a wire transfer involving Western Union or Money Gram
- cashier's check or money order
- shipping or escrow services or a promise of a transaction guarantee
- refusal to meet in person before consumating a transaction
In general, be wary of and use your best judgement
when dealing with transactions involving distant buyers or
sellers and any of the above situations.
